The Ecuadorian Flag
|
Ecuador’s flag looks similar to those of Colombia and Venezuela, but don’t say that to an Ecuadorian. The bandera tricolor (tricolor flag) is a powerful patriotic symbol with Ecuadorian people, and holds a high place in the hearts and the psyches of the Ecuadorian people.
From a very young age, starting in preschool, children have a day dedicated to the flag called “Jura a la Bandera,” or loosely translated Pledge to the Flag. On holidays marking important days in Ecuador’s history, the Ecuadorian flag is proudly displayed in the majority of homes throughout the country.
