Trujillo is a small beach town in Northern Peru. With a population of 690,000, it's the perfect starting point for anyone interested in exploring the astounding historical landmarks of both the ancient Moche and Chimu cultures. Of particular interest are archeological sites like Huaca del Sol y Huaca de la Luna, El Brujo, or the mud-brick city of Chan Chan.
Because Trujillo is a popular stop along the South American gringo trail, the city offers a plethora of hotel types and locations. From budget hostels ($3 and above) to upscale luxury hotels ($100-150), Trujillo can accommodate almost any traveler’s needs.
Whether you choose a hotel in Trujillo or nearby Huanchaco it is a good idea to make reservations ahead of time, especially if traveling in September when the “Festival Internacional de la Primavera y la Marinera” is held and the city is overrun with visitors.
A list of accomodations in Trujillo can be found at Viva Travel Guides Trujillo Peru Hotels guide.
